do you accept bookings at Strato Melbourne?

Restaurant:
Yes! We encourage you to make a reservation prior to arriving at Strato Restaurant to secure your booking.

Bar:
For groups under 5 people: We welcome you and your guests to join us at your leisure, no reservation is required.  As we practice a “First come, first served” model in our bar, we thank you in advance for your patience should you be asked to wait upon your arrival.

For groups over 5 people: Please secure a reservation for group sizes up to 12 people via our website, taking note of our terms and conditions that will apply to these bookings.  This can be done via our reservations page on our website. Please note a credit card is required at the time of all reservations to secure your booking.

Please note that a cancellation fee of AUD$50.00 per person applies for cancellations made within 3 hours.
All reservations are for a seating time of two hours. After this time, we kindly request your table back to accommodate guests who are joining us later.

Please note that a 10% surcharge fee will apply to all reservations on Sundays and 15% on Public Holidays.

can I be guaranteed a particular table or seating area in
either the bar or restaurant?

As the vast majority of requests on a daily basis are for specific views or areas, please note that this is something we cannot guarantee, regardless of whether or not you have made a reservation in advance.  Naturally, we will do all that we can to accommodate whenever possible.

can I bring my own alcohol into Strato Melbourne? Can I take

Our liquor licensing laws do not permit a ‘BYO’ service in any part of our venue. For the same reason, any alcohol purchased that is not consumed is prohibited to be taken off our premises.

can I order any food from your kitchen if I am seated in your bar?

Menu items from our ‘bar snacks’ can be enjoyed in our bar from any table. All other menu items are only available during our standard kitchen operating hours. In our restaurant, you can experience an array of dishes from across our menu as selected by our chef. A substantial offering of our chefs finest dishes catered to your party size. Minimum party size is two people. We cater for all dietary requirements and appreciate your understanding that the a la carte menu is unavailable for larger groups (over 6 guests).
All seating allocations are on chairs or on banquette seating. All reservations are for a dining time of two hours. Please note that the last seating time for dinner is for 9:00pm, unfortunately we cannot accommodate late arrivals after 9:15pm.

where does your venue source your food produce from?

Local Australian produce and products are used in the venue whenever possible. Locally sourced and seasonally grown produce from the likes of King Island and Mount Zero are championed in Strato’s modern Australian dishes. We are using bamboo-based products in place of plastic wherever possible, which are 100% biodegradable. Strato Melbourne strives to create an awareness around the need for positive environmental change through the education of associates, guests, and business partners. The Strato Melbourne team is continuously adopting new practices to help deliver a more sustainable and responsible venue environment, today and for the future.

what is the age requiremet for your bar and restaurant?

Strato bar is an 18+ only venue, and we cannot permit entry of minors, even when accompanied by an adult or guardian. Strato restaurant is open to all guests aged 12+ for dinner and lunch service.  Please be aware that no reduction in menu size or price is available for children; all guests are reserved a seat and must pay the menu price, otherwise we will be unable to seat them at your table.

is there a maximum number of guests that I can book for?

In the bar, our website welcomes reservations up to a maximum of 12 guests in one booking. Our restaurant accepts a maximum of 8 guests in one booking. For both the bar and restaurant, if your group size is larger than those mentioned above, our team in our events department would be delighted to explain our private function spaces for you and your guests to consider (Please note: all private spaces do attract a room hire fee)  For more information, please e-mail [email protected]

does your venue have a dress code?

Throughout the venue, the dress code is smart casual. We request that you dress in a minimum of smart to business attire for your booking. Thongs, tracksuits, sportswear, or any clothing with offensive language on it will not be permitted. Our management reserve the right to deny entrance to guests who may not be wearing suitable attire.

can I bring my pet?

In adherence with Victoria’s Food Standards Code,Strato Melbourne only accepts assistance animals in our venue.

what is your policy on smoking and vaping?

Guests are permitted to smoke or vape in our enclosed smoking area only, which is accessible via our outdoor balcony on level 40.  The remainder of our outdoor balcony is a smoke/vape free area. In the instance where our main bar area has been reserved for a private event, guests will be asked to exit the building via the ground level to smoke or vape.

Alternative parking is also available at DFO South Wharf, located on Convention Centre Place or Munro St and Normanby Road entries.  Please visit the website for further information and booking details. https://www.south-wharf.dfo.com.au/directions/parking Should your booking have a reservation time, we strongly encourage you to allow up to 15 minutes to secure a car park and make your way to Strato Melbourne.

do you have an outdoor space in your venue?

Comfortable outdoor seating is suitable for up to 5 guests on the Strato bar balcony. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a sunset over Melbourne city. As with all other seating in our bar, our outdoor space is for a seating time of two hours after which time we kindly request your table back to accommodate guests who are joining us later. It is the venues discretion to assign seating, not all requests are guaranteed a window seat. No seating is guaranteed inside the venue if the weather is to change. Whilst all care will be taken to relocate you, we cannot guarantee an indoor table or seat should we need to move you due to a change in the weather.

what do I do if I am running late for my reservation?

It is important to let us know if you are running late, as your table may be booked for another reservation after your seating. Please call us to advise delay on (+613) 9087 3400, otherwise we will hold the table for a period of 15 minutes only.

As we have two-hour sittings at Strato, please know that if you are running late for a booking, unfortunately it will come at the expense of your reserved time with us. We are aware that situations occur, however we are committed in accommodating the incoming guest on your table at their reserved time.

An example of this is: If you have a reservation for 7:00pm (with the agreed departure of 9:00pm) and you arrive 15 minutes late, we will still require your table back at 9:00pm, not 9:15pm.

Should we have not heard from you 15 minutes after your reservation time, there is a chance that we have given your table away to any potential walk-ins.

what is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans sometimes change. If you need to change or cancel your reservation, please do so from your confirmation e-mail or contact the team at least 3 hours before your reservation time to avoid a cancellation charge of AUD $50.00 per person.

can you cater for dietary requirements or food allergies?

We can cater to most dietary requirements if given advance notice. Please make note in the comments section when booking online. Strato Melbourne cannot guarantee that dietary requirements can be catered for if not notified 24 hours prior to dining.

The venue will take every reasonable action to ensure guests with dietary allergies are catered for appropriately but cannot be held responsible should exposure to a particular allergen occur.

to help us celebrate?

We can definitely assist with an amazing venue and spectacular views as you celebrate! Should you wish to, you are welcome to bring a cake to the venue - we offer cakeage at AUD$5.00 per person. Please let our team know at the time of booking if you are bringing a cake. Our venue policy for external items such as balloons, signage, confetti, and party decorations are not permitted unless a private space has been hired.

what are your rules concerning service of alcohol?

The venue upholds the principles of Responsible Service of Alcohol and in accordance with Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation; the venue reserves the right to refuse service to persons suspected of being under the age of 18 years and to any person who shows signs of intoxication. The venue reserves the right to remove the offending guest/s from the premises or to close the venue entirely.
